Here it is!! This is the one you’ve been hearing about. It’s 100 one my “go to” licks and “pockets of notes” in and over the common chords and chord changes in Bluegrass. I use many of these lick’s on the “Resocasters” CD and everytime I pick up a Dobro. I spend very little time talking just demonstrating the licks. Each lick is played several times slowly and then at tempo as I explain to you what chords or chord progressions they fit over. There’s even the “chromatic” lick that I always get asked about. It fits over any chord, now, how handy is that?

I only ask that if you buy this, you don’t burn me with my own licks when we jam sometime!

This is the best thing to come along since Josh Graves. An incredible practice tool and a ton of fun to jam with. It’s like having the Grateful Dead in your computer. It will play one tune for hours.Type in the chords to a song or load in a tune from the Bluegrass standards disc, pick a tempo, and you have a band backing you up. I recommend turning off the Banjo though. It really helps your timing as you practice. Why not discover your timing issues at home before you have to step up to the Opry mike and kick off “Rawhide”

So now you’re in tune with the Peterson Flip tuner, but what about tuning on the run?? For tuning on stage and on the fly I use this dynamite little clip on tuner that works like a champ. This tuner works a lot better than the other clip on tuners and at half the cost. The clip on application means that you’ll never have to worry about tuning at a crowded jam, this tuner only “hears” you. Tune right next to a Banjo player if you want, no problem. You really should get some different friends though. The screen is backlit and folds down flat on the headstock so it won’t look as bad on your Dobro as it does in these pictures. If you want to take it off between tunings it will fit easily into your pocket.

I use this and recommend it highly ! It’s inexpensive and it works. I even bought 2 of them for my friends.

This is where I recommend you start if you are just getting into the Dobro or feel you skipped a few things in your first couple years of playing. I cover all of the technique you need to learn to start impressing girls with the Dobro. And ladies, nothing says “class” like telling your man to skip the diamonds and get you “Scratch”.

Not only do you see what to do but I spend just as much time showing you the wrong way so you see why you have work so hard to get it right. I cover, pulloff’s, hammering on, slides, chords, right hand position, pick angle, left hand economy, tuning, string gauges, practice tips, rakes, and more. I tried to make this a resources on everything you need to learn to “do it right”.The tunes are NOT watered down versions . They are arranged the way I would play them on stage. To me it takes just as long to learn the slick versions as it does to learn the simplified one’s you’ll have to relearn later. I took this idea from the Earl Scruggs banjo book. Ask any banjo player about it. They all learned from it. Maybe that’s why there are so many hot banjo players out there.

This is a re-issue of a 6 hour course I did for Ridge Runner in the early 80’s. It features 6 hour long CD’s and tab book. There is a CD devoted to each of the major Bluegrass players up to that point. One CD on Josh Graves, one on Mike Auldridge, and one on a young Jerry Douglas.

The other CD’s are devoted to Fiddle tunes and some simple arrrangements of popular songs. I’ve had lots of compliments on this over the years so I’m glad that it’s available again.

The new Sonnus G2 M is an interface that will convert your pickup signal into midi information. What does this mean for you ? Well you can now with the G2M play your Dobro while it’s plugged in to a keyboard and create a string part to go with your Dobro part. You can play sax on your Dobro, the sky’s the limit. If you can think of it you probably can do it with the G2M and a midi keyboard or midi controled software in your recording studio. You now can record directly to tab with your tab software

The G2M has a built in tuner and a separate output for a dry (uneffected) signal. What will they think of next ?

The RESOCASTERS…
In 2003 Mike Auldridge, Jimmy Heffernan, and the late Hal Rugg teamed up on a project of resophonic guitars, 6 and 8 string models, 10 string Ped-A-Bro, Spanish style reso, many different tunings, playing with an incredible line-up of Nashville musicians to produce an acoustic steel guitar CD that is truly unique in today’s market.

This CD includes two vocal tracks (with vocals by Dennis Parker,
Brad Paisley, Joe Diffie and Sonya Issacs) and ten instrumental tracks,with Jim Hurst, Craig Fletcher,Dennis Crouch,Brad Paisley,Andy May and Kenny Malone.

Here’s a version of the old but very popular song “Waiting for a Train” by Jimmy Rodgers . It’s also known as “Blue Yodel # ???”. We cut a version of it on the “Resocasters” CD in E, this one is in the key of C.

Jimmy Rodgers music is associated with the Dobro even though there’s not very much of it on his records.

It does make very good Dobro music.

This is a pretty neat arrangement and is played at an intermediate level with some new and interesting twists to keep you from falling asleep at the Reso. I play the “Head” (cool musician speak) or melody and then take a solo based on the melody, followed by the “Head” again. (If you’re ever playing at a jam and the guy who started tune points to his head, he’s gonna play the melody and end the tune)

You get a download of the song with a backup track and also the backup track without the Dobro so you can play along and play the complete song. This will stop you family from saying “You never play anything that sounds like a song, it’s always bits and pieces from Jimmy’s 100 licks DVD”.
